CoSORT's Test Data Generator

RowGen is a 'test data' solution spun from the CoSORT package which allows developers and DBAs to rapidly build files, tables and reports of any volume, size and format. RowGen is a data creator, file synthesizer, cross-table populator, and report simulator that is ideal for prototyping, format sharing, and benchmarking because of its high level of data realism and file layout customisation.

A robust, random, test data and file synthesizer that allows you to: build, range, transform, format, and hand-off custom outputs -- all in one clear job script. Use RowGen to: create and test application data; benchmark new hardware and software; share confidential data, file and report formats; and, populate or simulate databases.

Using the familiar and explicit 4GL reporting syntax of CoSORT's sort control language (SortCL) program, RowGen users create simple text scripts to describe the precise layout, size, and content of the target file(s) they want -- down to the size, position, separator, and data type of each field element -- as well as a myriad of conditional selection (for range testing) and custom formatting features included in reports. Field values are either randomly generated for each desired position or randomly selected from one or more 'pool' files containing your real* data.

*Actual field elements from real data files. While you would use RowGen as a multi-purpose data generator, you cannot use it as a general-purpose processor of real data -- for that you would want to upgrade to CoSORT and SortCL.

Rowgen is currently available for all UNIX and Win32 platforms.

RowGen can be licensed on a periodic lease or perpetual-use basis to meet your application and testing requirements. Due to the potential for RowGen to meet an immediate or temporary project need, free trials are not available for this product.
